Spec-1 and Spec-2 Speaker connections

Ive been wondering what the best connection option for my speakers are, Ok so my Spec -1 Manual shows running jumpers from the Spec-1 to Spec-2 and running the speakers off the speaker terminals on the spec-1 in order to control the speakers from the speaker selector knob ie A or B or both. This is how it was connected when i got it, however my spec 2 manual shows connecting the speakers directly to the amp. I tried this and noticed a big improvement in my power hungry QLS 1s. The bass improvement considerable. Have I been running these wrong ? I hope someone here running Spec 1 and Spec 2s could give their opinion on the speaker connections. Is there a loss in power running according to the Spec 1 manual or is direct speaker connections just better connecting straight to the amp?

Maybe the relays in the Spec 1 are dirty or worn. There should be no difference.

Thanks EchoWars I didnt think so either but I needed a second opinion. I did drop my EQ out of the loop wich I suppose could be the reason my tuner sounded so much better. The DB level jumped considerably maybe thats what the difference was.
The only changes I made on the speakers was adding Bananna plugs as they will work on the Spec-2 but not with those spring clips on the Spec-1. I dont know much about the relays or how much they would effect the amps output, whatever it is they sound better now!
