SPEC 2 Reed Relay Question

Happy Saturday, all.

I am needing to replace the reed relays (RL2) on my SPEC 2 driver boards due to rust and questionable operation. The part number is ASR-005-C. This part is used on the TX-9500 as well.

There are reed relays on the SX-1050 and SX-1250 tuner boards. The part number is ASR-005 (without the "-C").

Does anyone know if these two part numbers, ASR-005 and ASR-005-C are interchangable?

If they are, it gives me a few more options for obtaining this part from parts units that occaisionally show up on Eb@@.

Thanks in advance for any help.

search the pioneer forums for spec 2 bias problem. I believe our resident guru EchoWars posted a few substitutions for the reed relays.

Hi, jpdylon.

Thanks for the quick response. EchoWars did post subs for reed relays awhile back but they were for the RL1 reed relay. RL2 doesn't have a replacement that anyone is aware of.

I've replaced a couple by using a DPDT dip relay mounted in a machined socket and glued 'dead bug' style to the PC board. Not pretty, but functional.

This relay is used to change the resistor divider for the current limit as the impedance switch is changed from 8 ohm to 4 ohm. If it's functional, I think I'd leave it be, rusty or not.

My pet peave...I hate rust. Especially if its on things inside of a house. Especially, especially, if its on stereo , computer or A/V equipment where it has no right being.

But if I must...
