Hey everyone. I’m a bit of a turntable collector, and last week I came across this working linear TT at the thrift store. I took it home, changed the cartridge out and gave it a go and it works great; however, i noticed a lot of the music i put on it runs a little fast. Using the RPM app on my phone to confirm, it turns out the platter spins at 34 1/4 and 46 1/2 instead of the usual 33 1/2 and 45 rpm.
I’ve downloaded the service manual for this Kenwood KD-66f on vinyl engine and tried opening it up to set it to the right speed, but haven’t been able to find any speed adjustment screws for this model. I haven’t been able to find instructional manuals for this online, but have looked at other similar Kenwood models and none of them mention speed adjustment.
Because of the nature of the controls on the model, I also can’t really find any pots to spray with de-oxit. I’m going to assume because of it’s nature as an automatic linear turntable that this is all controlled through electrical signals and circuitry, but does anyone familiar with the model or others like it have any suggestions on how to get it to the proper speeds?
I can provide pictures of the inner workings etc, if needed as well. Help would be really appreciated!
