speed problem with sp 15

when unit was powered on at 33 rpm, it works fine at that speed as long as you want it to.switch it to 45 rpm, again works fine and pitch is good. same for 78 rpm.but if you are at 78 rpm or 45 rpm and try to go to any lower speed it will not go to the slower speed. basically you can switch the speed from low to high, just not high to low without turning the turntable off.
is this a problem that is fixable?

You need to compare the speed selector waveforms of the SP 15 to those in the service manual using an oscilloscope in order to isolate the problem.

Turning the power off resets the processor. That's why normal operation returns.
Anything is repairable.

I misunderstood the tech who was looking at it for me, the minus key on the pitch control doesnt work and sometimes the 33 1/3 key wont work. I think it means its that one irrepplacable IC that died. the pitch control will go up, it wont go back down without turning the unit off.....so I think its toast.
