Spendor Prelude .. Enjoying them over again :)

Hi Guys,

I pulled out my old Spendor Prelude bookshelf speakers out of the Den (stored there for quite a while with many other speakers)
Decided to get them back in service, but the reason they were stored down there was that they had blown tweeters (I bought them in this condition)..... So after doing some handy work and replaceing the blown Audax (french made) tweeters, I put in a pair of Peerless tweets that had the same specs.
Put them on the stands and gave them a listen........ WOW!! these things are Fantastic!!........ They have a 8" bass driver and the metal dome Tweets..... Man! they sound good. :yes:
I got them hooked up to my newly aquired Cambridge Audio C75 preamp and Perreaux pmf 2150B power amp.....
This setup is sweet...... :thmbsp:
I will get some pics up later today......
Anybody else here got a pair of these or the SA-2 (which I have a pair in the den also...... blown Audax Tweeters )

Just noticed this old post.

For what it is worth, I have a pair of SA-2s at my vacation house hooked to a Sumo Athena preamp and Sumo Polaris power amp. They were given to me by a neighbor who needed to get smaller speakers in the interest of domestic bliss. IMO they are very nice speakers with a smooth thicker sound, but placement is critical to avoid that dreaded bass bloat. In fact they are so good, I told my neighbor that I couldn't keep them permanently and would only "store" them for him until he needed them back.
