Splitting a signal

I just noticed that on my RC-1070 there are two pairs of output terminals. Obviously one pair is going to my amplifier. It says in the manual that I can use the second pair to "drive a second power amplifier or to supply a signal to a signal processor."

My goal is to send a signal from the cd player to the (RC-1070 pre-amp / RB-1080 amp) AND to a Rotel receiver I have driving another pair of speakers.

Question 1: Does utilizing the second set of outputs on the pre-amp diminish the signal from the first?
Question 2: Does the receiver qualify as a "second power amplifier" and/or a "signal processor?"

My thought is to run a second set of connectors from the RC-1070 pre-amp's second pair of outputs to the receiver's cd input connectors. But I could also just run cables from the RC-1070 pre-amp tape output connectors to the cd connectors on the receiver. That would work too, right?

What do you recommend and as important, what would you worn me from?

Does the Rotel receiver have Preamp IN/OUT jumpers? Putting the second output from your preamp into that IN would be the best situation.
Otherwise, I would say run the connectors from the preamp tape output to any of the receiver's line level input. (aux, tape, cd. NOT phono)

Going from the preamp second OUT to the receiver's cd input, or any other line level input would give you redundant volume control, which might get weird.
 
I guess 1 is a theoretic "Yes" but in real life, if you hear a difference, let us know. I setup a switching system to split my "preamp out" to three power amps. Thing is, I detect no difference when the switches on my splitter split the line-level signal into one, two or three power amp inputs.

Another way to look at it is think of the REC OUT terminals. In all the preamps and integrated amps I have, this is a non-buffered split of the signal. You can check and see if you hear in the main signal if the REC OUT (when hooked to a load) diminishes the main signal. I suspect you will not hear a difference.
 
Your results will depend on how well the circuit design was balanced for the two outputs. Sounds like there is no "switchology" involved, so the mfg must have designed for dual outputs at the same time.

This deserves a structured A/B test . . .

Schematic shows the two sets of pre-outs simply paralleled, so either no "balance" at all or a perfect one, depending on your POV.

in response to the question about whether the receiver has "pre-amp in/out jumpers," it has a jumpers for "pre-out" and another for "main in"
 
Also, regarding the redundant volume controls, I DO want to be able to adjust the volume of each set of speakers separately which is why I did not just hook up the speakers to the second set of speaker connections on the amp.
Unfortunately, now I have real problems rather than just questions. I had my pre-amp on/off switch repaired recently. Would have replaced it but Rotel sent me one that does not fit and it seems impossible to find one that does. I don't know what happened but when I connected the pre-amp back into the system (no connection to the receiver - just the amp/pre-amp/cd player), I got sound only on one channel. After trouble shooting and discovering that the problem was past the pre-amp, I lost the good channel too. VERY FRUSTRATED.
