Hi All,
I have a SR6000DC that I rescued from a trash pile, literally. It is in great condition, but the volume pot has problems. Symptoms:
Taking a look through this thread and this thread, I'm inclined to purchase pot from ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/144422144438 . But, I'd prefer to get some sort of three-row pot that matches the original, which sadly is a 2x100k with a third row at 200k for the balance, all with loudness taps, though the taps aren't a big deal. Here's the original, in chassis, and the three rows should be clear. Any ideas on where I could get one of these? If not, any idea on a good way to rig up a balance pot without drilling a new hole through the faceplace?

Here it is in the schematic for this ol' girl:

If I have to use the dual-row volume pot, I'm simply going to hard-pin the balance at centered and live with it, unless there's a good way to include balance without drilling through the face.
Thanks!
I have a SR6000DC that I rescued from a trash pile, literally. It is in great condition, but the volume pot has problems. Symptoms:
- Signal will drop sporadically to one channel or the other.
- So long as input signal power from my DAC is above 75% of max, it will often stay alive longer. This might be an interesting electromechanical issue with the wiper arm. Who knows.
- If one channel dies, I can drop the PC / DAC volume to zero, then hold down the volume up key, quickly ramping to 100% volume, and often the dead channel will resurrect.
- Applying a lateral, non-torquing force to the post on the pot can kill a channel.
- Sometimes both channels die completely, then the volume-ramp-up-via-DAC method will bring them back.
- All of these symptoms are repeatable listening via headphones. Thus, I think it's reasonably narrowed down to that pot.
- Notably, I've done several rounds of contact cleaner on it to inconsistent results. I have the "fancy stuff" coming in the mail but I doubt it's going to do it.
