Stabilizer weight for AR XA TT

Almost done with my AR XA rebuild and some final steps to do is level everything out. I like the idea of dropping the bubble level over the spindle for accuracy. But is 280 grams of weight to much for this TT? Don't want to "bog" down the motor anymore than I have to. Can you guys suggest something that could be better with less weight? Thanks

Adding 280g will throw off the tuning of the suspension. Either use heavier springs (Linn) or use something lightweight like a small rubber tube over the spindle for use as a clamp.

Honestly, I would just leave it alone.

yes, just setting the album down on the platter mat. what is that thing supposed to "stabilize" ?
 
I am using a Michell clamp that I bought used off BT on my XA. I did have to open up the collet some as you may know the XA uses a larger than normal (very close to max spec) spindle.

I am thinking the same thing but I have been reading that a little weight is beneficial for sound quality. I was thinking a little bit of weight with the level bubble is a good thing.

the weight is added at the wrong place, to help flatten an album, use a perimeter ring.........but your suspension will still not support extra mass. it doesn't even like a rubber mat and 180Gr album.
 
Little to gain and a lot to loose, invest your money elsewhere, like a stylus or cartridge upgrade, for many applications a weight/clamp is nothing more than audio eye candy.
 
One of the reasons that the spindle on the ARs is full size is to hold the record reliably downward (won't work on over reamed records or records with holes that are oversized).
