Stanton Hi-Tech 200EE ?

Greetings,

This is my first post here but I'm a long time lurker getting into fixing old turntables.

Anyways I recently picked up this vintage unused Stanton Hi-Tech 200EE cartridge with a D61 stylus.

I couldn't find any info about this cart online and I was wondering what the correct tracking force range is as well as if this is a decent cartridge?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Hello.

It is almost impossible to tell what you've got there just by looking at the photo of an empty box.

The designation on that cartridge box is a non-standard one.
Probably one of the myriad 'private label' names given to otherwise known cartridges.

Show us a photo of the actual cartridge with attached stylus and we'll be able to help you.

In any case, if you bought this cartridge complete (new in box), then it includes instructions.
Look there and it will tell you the tracking force.

The body is a Stanton 600.
A two-coil, moving iron design by Stanton/Pickering that was introduced somewhere in the 70s if I am not mistaken.

It is a solid design that will perform nicely, especially when mated with an original stylus.
If your original stylus is in good condition, then you have a nice vintage cartridge in your hands.

Regarding that D61 stylus I can't find any information on it.
But if the designation 'EE' is correct, then it should be an elliptical (probably a 0.3x0.7mil tip), that would track at around 1.5 grams VTF.
Begin at that VTF and if you sense any kind of distortion or mistracking, immediately add a gram to it.
Keep on adding weight, until you feel there is absolutely no distortion.
