Stanton hum

I picked up a stanton 681eee from an auction site without a stylus, ordered one (4822-DEE-P) from VoM.

It is on an adc lmf2, I have tried it with and without the ground strap, and with and without the ground connected to the pre.

tried it without the stylus and finally no hum, so would the new stylus be bad?

also tried a v15-3 and a vm95ml both are silent on this arm.

any other suggestions to try?

IIRC, those cartridges (typically) came with insulating "ears" that insulated the cartridge body, from the head shell (to prevent ground loops).

If you didn't get the insulators, you may be able to make something workable by using plastic washers between the cartridge, and the head shell, and between the hardware (nut) and the cartridge.

See the pic below.
