Stanton Studio EE cartridge/d617 stylus info

So I am in the process of upgrading an Audio Technica cartridge in the meantime my 3 available choices are the AT960x, a Stanton 500 and a Stanton studio ee D617. Any suggestions? This will be going on a Technics 1200 & a Technics sl-d3.

The Stanton could you give me a little more info on it? Is D617EE on the stylus assembly or the body? Could you post a picture of it?

I am sorry it is a d61, no 7 just on stylus , nothing on body . Came out of the original stanton jewel case it says studio ee on it. Looks like maybe a 990 ee
 
If it's a D61EE stylus that's the Stanton i would replace the stylus for. The 500 if it's a Gold body would be my next choice and I'd replace the stylus with either a D71EE or D71EE-2
 
The StudioEE is in fact a 500 body (they were marketed by many names...) - the only thing that differed was the stylus.

The AT960x is an AT10/11 by any other name (and AT sold this body by many many names!)
It can be fitted with anything up to an ATN12s / ATS12s shibata needle (which are very nice tapered cantilever with a high quality shibata on the end) - and the Shibata styli can be picked up for around $50

Depending what needle is currently fitted to the AT960x it could be anything from a spherical/conical to a shibata.... What colour is the stylus mount?

I think the AT has the greater potential...

I agree! I have an OEM A-T "2500SX" which takes the ATN-12S stylus and after installing it, I found it to be one sweet cartridge! It works beautifully in my Technics 1200.
 
Thanks dlaloum, you helped with the At in another thread. Thats what made me decide to upgrade it. Im just not sure about the stylus on it now , and the stanton is brand new out of the box, I thought maybe it would be better till i get the ATS12S. I believe the stylus on the AT is a 200-D7C.

If this is your stylus for that Stanton it will NOT FIT A 500 BODY

and the info by poster dlaloum is incorrect. I hold in my hand as i type the instruction and fact sheet for a Stanton 68EE and it takes the D61 stylus same as yours and I can asure you that the stylus from a Stanton 500 does not fit.

Specs are as follows D-61 Elliptical .0004X.0007 Black with silver d-61
