Stargazers!

Who here does any stargazing? I have been at it, of and on, for many years. After an eight year hiatus I decided to pull the 'scope* out and take a gander at the Venus/Jupiter conjunction, eyeballing Orions belt and all it has to offer as well.

I was bitten again. Now, I am considering doing some of my own imaging, but in my search I have noticed the bewildering cornucopia of astro-cameras available at a much wider range of prices than we had just a decade ago. I'd like to do some deep space imaging as well as planetary, solar and lunar. Thing is I really don't want to spend more than $400. Any recommendations?

* The telescope is a Celestron 150mm Achromatic refractor on an Orion Atlas mount.

That's a nice telescope you have there, no wonder you were bitten again.

No recommendations, as I have none, but will watch the thread with interest.

Got up not long ago, looked out the window and was amazed how bright Venus was.

I had no idea this was going to be an event. Maybe I will setup the telescope for tomorrow morning.

I am and we are entering my favorite time of year for this. I have both a 4-1/4 Newtonian (dad's Christmas gift to me when I was 14) and a 10" S-C from him from his estate.

I do much of my sky watching by nekkid eye and from atop my roof.

I have no recommendations for you however. Good luck!

That event was a conjunction that took place two weeks ago. It'll be a while before it happens again.

Here is the calculator I use for such events........ https://in-the-sky.org/risesetcharts.php
