If this is not within standards, please let me know and i will pull it.
In the next month, i am going to be expanding my Web presence to help spread the word, and possibly monetize a YT channel with Recording Gear, & General Music reviews and recommendations, in order to do what i hope to do with my Studio, Underground Tan Studios & Promotion. The name reworks the title of Frank Zappa's Studio Tan, as a Tribute to one of my favorite Artists, just as my band, IceNine is a tribute to my favorite Author, Kurt Vonnegut.
My business plan for my Studio, is to do professional recordings of Demos, EPs and even full length LPs for new, young and more experienced bands in my area for the price they are able to afford. Lawrence/Kansas City has been a hotbed of Great and Varied local, original music, but not being a major market area, we have produced Tech9nine, Kansas, Chely Wright and Melissa Etheridge, and i believe that is the extent of talent that has found the national spotlight from this area. Currently it is a digital studio....i know, digital, ehhh. i want to go with Analogue in the future, about 3-5 years out. That will happen when our new home is built, and i have acquired the remaining needed Analogue gear. Even so, i have the great opportunity to still have Vinyl Pressed at Acoustic Sounds Vinyl division, Quality Record Pressing, which is in my area, and are great folks to work with.
Lawrence, being a College town, brings in diverse Cultures, and Musical Styles. i would equate it to Athens, GA of the 80's, without the National recognition. i hope to at least help get these talents, who don't have a lot of funds, heard by a larger audience. They will also be featured on the YouTube channel. i've thought about Kickstarter, and other means of setting up the video end of my approach, as i have invested over 15 grand of my own funds on the studio itself, using Focusrite Equipment, which Rupert Neve helped to design.
i know the area contains a preponderance of great talent, but the "flyover" nature of the area, along with most of the bands being "Starving Artists" from buying their instruments and stage gear, makes it very hard for them to be heard nationwide, or even get more than local region Gigs. i will also help them with visibility & do my best to pass them up to larger companies that can help them achieve their goals. i've been giving guitar lessons, repairing and modding electric guitars, and so far i have only a Facebook page, to help fund the next step. Oddly enough, aside from one local act that contacted me, Two Young Rappers in South Africa contacted me, and sent a demo that actually amazed me with their talent. Of course i cannot go there, or bring them here to record, so i am contacting larger names and firms to get them heard, and hopefully help them reach their goals. All i hope to gain from this profit wise, is enough to stay in business, and hey, fund Christmas. i am not greedy, i just love Great Music and Creativity. Working with my first client has been very rewarding, so has giving beginner guitar lessons to kids.
So my event will be the launch of my YouTube page, and i will announce it once i have it set up, and have 3-5 videos ready to post. If it is ok to post that event date, i would love to do so here (for the Audio Karma
, as well as other sites.
Again, if this isn't an announcement that is desired for Audiokarma, let me know, and i, or moderators can remove it. If indeed it isn't wanted here, i ask anyone that would be so kind, to advise me on a better place to make the announcement. i started here, as this is the page i have been with the longest, and have some recognition, and a fair amount of posts.
Thank You All, and Be Well,
