[ When i get the things working i may have to buy or build an amplifier since my Yamaha Cr-2020 doesnt sound to good with headphones, doesn't have any bass at all. Will probably be a tube amplifier but first i need to check that they actually work. ]
You won't need another amp as the stax connect to your speaker output terminals bypassing any internal headphone amp.[/QUOTE]
I'm going through a similar situation. I've decided to re-build a dedicated tube receiver for my Stax. I imagine the 6BQ5 would be good as always, but I'm wondering about 6GW8s because I have a decent Lafayette 224 and an NOS quad of Amperex in that number. I guess nothing ventured, nothing gained. This is my first time messing around with Stax, and I'm starting with an entry level pair of SR-30s with an SRD 4 adapter. If anyone runs these particular headphones on any kind of tubes I'd like to here about it. Thanks, jay
