I stay away from store brand mixes for just such reasons.. Sorry it didn't get along with you.

If you want to use a decent mix, it's hard to beat Carol Shelby's mix..

This is what Carroll Shelby copied (or ripped off, being as Wick Fowler was a former business partner in the Terlingua project). It's slightly better.

Speaking of Terlingua... here you go: Pendery's, the best chili/spice source I've found.

MSG is a natural spice. It's found naturally in seaweed (hence Japan) and in tomatoes. Well, glutamate is.
