SteppenWolf Gold

[qdrone]

Is this not one of the most underated bands in RocknRoll History? I do not even know if they are in the RocknRoll hall of of fame but they should be. I've been listening to SteppenWolf Gold a CD of their most accessable songs and it rocks.
This is a band that made rock boogie songs that made early AM radio song lists with songs like Sookie Sookie, Born To Be Wild ,Magic Carpet Ride only to move on to early FM song lists with Rock Me,Hey Lawdy Mama and Snowblind Friend.
I guess as I look back on my youth two bands that held up or are still rocking Steppenwolf would fall in the former where as Jethro Tull would fall in the latter.
Check out this CD,it is great and the band has some great albums out there like Steppenwolf Two and Seven.

Try Steppenwolf - Live, on vinyl. It also has their classics.

I've had this one since the 6th grade.

Steppenwolf Live and Steppenwolf Gold are both must-haves, IMO - different perspectives on their best stuff. Been listening to Steppenwolf live since it came out - guess I was 15 then.

I saw Steppenwolf in a small night club on Beale Street in Memphis in the mid 80s. John Kay is iconic - I believe that he was wearing heavy sunglasses prior to Elvis. That night was very memorable - but that's another story:drunk::nutz::guitar:

John is blind if you didn't know.

Oops! And I let him borrow the car... ara:

John is blind if you didn't know.

According to Wikipedia, he has serious eye conditions but apparently he can see well enough to be an avid videographer...whatever that means...

[Catswold]

Not blind, just extremely light sensitive and very bad vision...not due to too much weed...

Monster is one of their best. Heavy protest rock.

there are many bands/performers who deserve to be in the hall, steppenwolf is one who does but isn't.

We could certainly have a discussion about Steppenwolf vs Heart, but they should definitely be ahead of Blondie and Madonna. I should probably listen to Heart and Steppenwolf right now..........

Steppenwolf was my first concert at the age of 14. Eric Burdon and the Animals opened for them. I sat entirely too close and my ears rang for days...it was great.

I've always been a Steppenwolf fan. Matter a fact.. I just won a Steppenwolf reel tape on ebay yesterday... A factory original recording... Steppenwolf Seven.. can't wait to get it and give it a listen. The box and tape looks like brand new.

"7" has always been my favorite. "Earschplittenloudenboomer" with the volume all the way up and the windows open. I have on a thumb drive so I can share it with coworkers.

I agree

Seven is one of their best but Steppenwolf Second is my favorite album, side two is great
