I sat down and added up what I've spent and what i've made and was quite surprised to find out that I'm actually $100 ahead as far as my current system goes. Here is a chronicle of my exploits:
Bought KLH Model Fours ($10) Status: Kept those babies.
Technics SA-350 ($8) Status: Sold for $32
Realistic Nova 8B's ($10) Status: Sold for $60
Sansui 2000A ($20) Status: Sold for $100
Kenwood KR-720 ($5) Status: Sucked. Sold for $35.
Yamaha R-300 ($10) Status: Sold for $41
So at this point I am up $205 and here is what I have now and what I spent:
Realistic Optimus 800s ($45. $20 for speakers/$25 for refoam)
Realistic Optimus 5Bs ($30)
Harman Kardon HK 550 vxi ($30)
Which leaves me ahead $100 and I have a pretty sweet stereo for the time being. However, it is debatable whether my current setup sounded better than the one consisting of the Sansui 2000A and the Nova 8Bs.
