Stereomanuals.com still in business?

Just hoping someone can confirm whether Rick Stout's "stereomanuals.com" is still in business. I've purchased from him in the past and have always been impressed with the quality of their manuals. I did try to buy their Pioneer compendium a year or two ago and never got a response. Yesterday I sent him an email to purchase a service manual and was just wondering how long does it typically take to get a response. IE-no response yet but it has only been one day.

No, there was some health issues and now we know he's no longer with us. There was some talk (in the past) that someone should buyout the inventory and keep the business going as it's such a valuable resource, but I've not heard any progress or movement with regards to that. So as of right now, I'd say don't bother with that website, consider it gone, and don't send them your money (if that's even possible).

It would be nice if the family kept it going, or sold the inventory/files to someone who would keep the business going.

Without Rick's knowledge and experience, it would be very difficult to efficiently run that business.

I have to assume the site is completely inactive as no response to my email sent (earlier this past week) prior to learning of Rick's unfortunate passing.

I always had good experiences with Stereomanuals.com, until right at the end. I had tried to buy a manual from them not long before Rick died. After nothing for a couple of months, I got an email from him saying he’d been having both health issues and computer problems, but he’d get me my manual as soon as he could. That was the last I heard before he died. I suspect that between the specialized knowledge Rick had and the computer problems, his wife and daughter weren’t able to get the business back up and running. That’s unfortunate, since it was definitely a good resource.

It was quite a sprawling site, and I think he even mentioned on the homepage that it might not be the easiest to navigate. It sounded like a one-man operation, so it is no surprise that it wasn't taken over by family members. Without having been heavily involved in the day to day running, l doubt that many of us would know how to take over our spouse's business, even if we wanted to.

The chances that it was a goldmine, or that the subject matter is of much interest to the owner's wife and daughter, are not too high. And evidently, they haven't received a purchase offer from a business person or member(s) of the audio community that was too good to turn down...
