Steve "The Deacon" Hunter & Dick Wagner

Johnny Thunders - LAMF
OK, I decided to start this thread due to the recent revival of my Lou Reed - Rock 'N Roll Animal LP review. Among the greatest Rock guitar duos of all time. Spiraling intertwining guitar lines had never been done like that before in hard-rock. I ****in' love 'em!

Steve Hunter also played with Mitch Ryder.
He had a solo record with a pretty cool version of "8 Miles High"

Their work on the Rock and Roll Animal album alone would make them notable, but they’ve done a lot of other great stuff, including work for Alice Cooper, among others. That intertwining intro for “Sweet Jane” is discussed ad nauseum, but for good reason—it’s one of the most spine-tingling solos ever committed to tape.

BTW, I love your avatar. I saw Mr. Genzale a number of times when I lived in NYC. Rock and roll to the bone.

Thanks for reminding me ... just got out my Steve Hunter "The Deacon" No Speak series CD and put it on for a listen.. :music:

After listening to Rock 'n Roll Animal when it first came out - I could not understand why Lou didn't keep these guys around. Only recently did I learn he was "jealous" and didn't like them taking the lime light. His lost and alice Cooper and other's gain.

I always thought this album had the PERFECT sound (though not the greatest quality recording/pressing). Other songs I thought came close to Rock and Roll perfection of Tone were James Gang Funk 49, Joe Cocker Feelin' Alright (for piano not guitar), Crosby Still & Nash Wooden Ships...

just pulled out "Detroit" which features Mitch Ryder and Steve "Decator Gator" Hunter which has a version of Lou Reed's "Rock and Roll".
It was a 1971 release which pre-dates his stint with LR.
