My deluxe copy arrived today (two CD and DVD plus bluray)

Utterly brilliant album.
Yes, there are the jazzy interludes of the last outing , but on the whole a more rounded musical outing than the last solo effort.
Stand out track for me is the watchmaker.

I know there are some lovers of Porcupine Tree and all things Wilson here,
I`d seriously suggest buying this album if you even have a passing interest.

Production is astounding.

Wow!!! Love the Tree. And THANK YOU for the post. It made me search and low and behold, Steven and Opeth are playing not 10 miles from my home in April....:banana::banana::banana: I am there!
 
Can't get enough SW/PT/SW & Opeth/Blackfield/No Man, and whatever else the man has done. Thanks for posting. So much more I have not heard yet.

An immense talent and so prolific, it's mind-boggling! His work with Robert Fripp on the King Crimson remasters is awesome. Saw Porcupine Tree twice, what amazing shows. Gonna have to get the new one!
 
Grace for Drowning was a big letdown for me . Too much like King Crimson which is what Steven Wilson was working on at the time . Bring back the TREE !!
 
Never thought I'd ever say this ...

... but finally, a Steven Wilson album I don't like ...

Then again, that's after just listening to the snippets on Amazon. Not like I can really gain a full perspective on the work from those alone. I did notice there's a lot of bizarro syncopation going on there. PT never was adverse to that, but it immediately made sense ... what I heard here didn't.

Grace for Drowning was a bit of a letdown also, but maybe like a fine wine ... it seems to be growing on me.

That said ... to reiterate a previous comment ...

BRING BACK THE TREE !!​

PS ... Storm Corrosion ... a recent collaboration that's been getting a lot of airplay here. I expect great things from them.

The long form songs work best.

I also was concerned when I watched the on line videos, but as a piece it works well.
Actually much more gentle, and tuneful that Grace for drowning.

I also preferred the first solo album to that, but this is the best thing he has done in years, honest!
 
Wow, I find it strange that so many dislike GfD - as I think it's more cohesive as a complete album than Insurgentes, which I also happen to like, but find SW's first solo effort more song oriented.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I'm waiting to hear the new album, as it's intended - staying away from the on-line samples.
 
I just listened to my CD from my latest PROG magazine and it has a track from SW new album on it . It's good but it has flute on it ! GFD sounded like King Crimson after SW RM the KC catolog and now SW is remastering the Jethro Tull catolog and now I hear flute .

If he remasters the Blue Oyster Cult albums are we gonna get more Cow Bell ? :D
 
Gawd hep us all if he remasters Barefoot Becky and the Ivanhoe Dutchmen.

PS ... The Sky Moves Sideways ... anyone? Now THAT'S my kinda PT ... rediscovered here recently after it had been hiding in the clutter.
 
I have the 2-LP version on order.....Can't wait for it to arrive, last April we saw him live and he played Luminol and that was awesome!!! I have been a PT fan for way long, and really love all his solo stuff. As well as the other project stuff he does.
One of the hardest working men in music today.

Great musician, writer and producer.....his attention to sound quality needs to become a disease.

The man might as well just open my wallet and tell me how much he wants!


I dont mind, as there are very few artists who have so much attention to detail with not just the sound, but also the quality of the product.

PT and Bass Communion vinyl along with the solo outings are things of quality and artistic beauty.
 
I bought the single cd/dvd set, not the deluxe with the 2nd cd. Anything good on the
2nd cd?

I love Blackfield....Have been looking for that on vinyl here.
