Storage for Reel-To-Reel Tapes

I recently started buying reel-to-reel tapes and my collection is already to the point where I should probably get a decent storage solution. I thought about using one of my current IKEA CD racks but the boxes would stick out about 1/2" and, because the racks are so narrow, they aren't going to hold very many. What are other AK'ers using to store their tapes?

I'm with you. I also need a storage solution. All of my tapes (new & used) are in plastic grocery bags....:nono:

I used one of those metal shelves for a while that you get from office supply stores. I also lucked into finding shelves that were a nice size at a garage sale. I guess you'll just have to see what's out there. Fortunately, one shelf's worth of reel tapes isn't nearly as heavy and the same shelf's worth of LPs, so you might not need anything as robust as the IKEA unit.

When I had Reel to reel, I used cardboard 45 boxes from Bags Unlimited.

Not sure on shelving, since R2Rs don't have as much density as 78s, you may be able just use a simple bookshelf with the shelving set to 8"-12", depending on your preference/size of tapes.

I always preferred the front-facing "flip" method of organizing my music, hence the 45 boxes.

I got my 40 or so on top of the shelves that I use to hold vinyl......school has banned photobucket, so I cannot get a pic right now.

When I get more.....that'll be a challenge.
