Strange Audio Problem - MA-6300

I'm a noob re DIY on my system, so forgive any errors in my assessment below.

My 2 channel system is a McIntosh MA6300 running 2 Focal Chorus 720 loudspeakers. I listen to CD's, (Rotel) Vinyl (Linn)and stream music from the web via an Audio Engine Sender/Receiver.

About 2 years ago I started to notice that every so often, (not every time I listen) one of the channels (the issue doesn't seem to favour left or right) would start cutting in and out, or producing static like noise. I checked banana plugs and connections on the back of the Mac and the Focals, tightened everything up, moved the wireless receiver away from the rest of the system,and things seemed to get better.

But it wasn't fixed. The problem continued to happen off and on, but without any rhyme or reason. Then it would just go away.

I took the MA6300 in for repair, and of course they ran the system for 4 days straight with no issue. Brought it home, and it ran without the issue for about 7-8 months. then last week it started again.

I finally found others who have had the same problem, and their fix was a bad relay. I've opened up the MA-6300 with the intention of cleaning the speaker relay, but am unable to identify it. Can anyone here help? Is the relay "cleanable" or must I get it checked and replaced if necessary?

If anyone has suggestions of any kind I'd appreciate it. My brain is fried with just trying to figure this out.

Yes , that's what I suspect too ! speaker relay is sometime not easy to replace by yourself . Double side metalized holes pcb.
If you are not a tech , contact one Mc Intosh service center , they will do it well, very fast and not really expensive

Here is a view of the power board to see where is this speaker relay .

Check bias (25mv at test points) the 6300 will shut down if it gets too hot, behaves like a bad speaker relay !!

I never did replace the speaker relay/ the problem just disappeared. It comes back sporadically, now in the form of one speaker or the other quitting. But now I've lost interest in the Mac and am considering going a whole new route. (i.e. but another brand of Int Amp.

Shortly after my initial inquiry, i popped (snapped?) the plastic cap off the relay, sprayed a somewhat coarse business card with Deoxit, and cleaned the two contacts. I haven't had a dropout since (they were happening everyday), and the amp no longer runs hot!
 
Hi, this is helpful. My 6300 has the same problem regardless of source. It is on the right channel, left is normal. The Mac agent tested for days and was good, not sure he had actually tested thoroughly. It shows up when I bring home and start playing. It always happens when starting from cold, and gone after 30 mins of continuous play. I had tried all checks, e.g. new power cable, new banana plugs, speaker cable, different speakers, etc. , but problem remains. It is the static noise, same noise type when you change radio stations.
I hope it is the relay problem, so it can be fixed. I do not want to give up yet, love my 6300.

To all who replied here, the problem WAS the speaker relay. Got it replaced and it's worked fine ever since. So sorry for the long delay in telling you this.
