Strange mod of KLH 17 ?

I picked up a pair of KLH 17s on the cheap and am re-capping them based on specialidiot's spectacular guide at

When I opened up one of the speakers, I found a 10MF cap instead of the original 4MF cap (which you can see in the guide above).

Any ideas on why this would have been done ? What is the impact on the sound that is output ? Sorry if this is a silly question but I am a newbie :)

The original cap is actually a double 4uF cap wired in parallel yielding 8uF - the correct value. Never heard tell anything other than an 8uF cap on the tweeter. I would suspect that the 10uF caps in your's were installed as replacements. 'Course, I don' know fo' sho'.
 
In a back channel conversation with woostersoz, we did determine just what Mark suggested. Woostersoz indicated that one speaker sounded muddy. I suggested that the previous owner had replaced the dual 4's with a 10, and that the muddy speaker is the un-modified one.

He confirmed my lucky guess.
