Hello. I am looking to stream HD Music from Amazon to my Marantz 2270 receiver.

I would prefer to go wifi.

It would be nice to be Alexa compatible for ease of use for my wife. But this isnt necessary.

I have a Schiit MODI 3 Dac I would like to use in line with the streamer. I would prefer to Use the Optical input on the MODI as well for best possible sound quality.

Presently I use my iPad or phone to select music from Amazon HD and stream to devices. I also use Alexa as well.

Budget is no higher then $500
But would prefer lower.

Thanks !

Pick up an old Apple TV2 or 3 or an AirPort Express router. Both will work with AirPlay and have optical outputs. That's how I do it, when I want wireless (I normally use a long Lightning cable and camera adapter to give a USB port for my DAC). Both are out of production but are typically very cheap. Here's a bit of info on the AirPort Expresses: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AirPort_Express. Any of these will work fine, but models A1264 and A1392 are easier to configure, especially since you have an iPad and iPhone. The older models will work fine but require an older Windows version of the AirPort config. software to set up. You should be able to get an A1264 for $20 or less.

To use an Amazon device like a fire cube or stick you need to deal with HDMI. They have Alexa, the menus on the TV with many lyrics, and they put out HD music really well.

So if you want to use an Amazon device either convert the HDMI to something your DAC accepts or sell your DAC and buy a DAC that accepts HDMI. That is what I did. I went with Essence DAC. I've been happy ever since.

There are many streamers on the market. Bluesound Node, ifi Stream, WiiM/KEiiD (which has a recent and extensive thread here), Raspberry Pi devices, etc.

These all support wifi, a check box for you.

I have a Node 3rd gen and love it. Software is fantastic. I've been sampling/testing it thru various DACs. And, I recently had it running thru a Modi 3 for a few weeks. Sounded great.

It is a bit pricey. I didn't pick mine up for retail cost.

I wasn't even in the market for a streamer when I got mine. I was looking for something to blow my giftcard on and caught a sale. Would I pay retail for it? Eh... not sure.

For me, It is fantastic. IMO you can't go wrong with it's wonderful software and extensive features and applications.

Alexa is supported. Which is another check box for you. (I don't use Alexa, can't comment further.)

The Wiim was not around at the time. Check that out too. I don't know much about it. But it seems to be quite popular right now.
