Stuck voice coil help. Polk 5jr series 2

Hello audiokarma, long time lurker here but this is actualy my first post. I've had these speakers for about a year now and the've been excellent but after a party the other night I discovered the one speaker was playing very softly compared to the other and then further diagnosed the issue to be a stuck voice coil. I suspect this is due to overheating but was wondering if there was any way of fixing this because it still plays, or is my only option to buy a new woofer? Also I noticed on the same speaker the tweeter has small bulge around the rim that I've never noticed before, could this be new damage from the same incident? I was also wondering if some of you could provide some insight into why this happened, the speakers were being powered by my Akai AA-R40 which is rated to 50 watts and the power volume was't past 6 or 7 while loudness was off and bass was also set flat. I believe these speakers are rated to 100 watts so I don't see why this would have happened. I can say the amp gives more power to the right channel as you can tell by the power meters but could there be something else wrong with it that caused the overheating? Sorry for the long post with many questions just trying to figure this all out, thank you very much in advance for the help.

Yikes! That's a fried vc. I think I can confidently say that at 6 or 7, you've gone deep into hard clipping. It was probably at max output at about 1 o'clock. Did the bass get any louder past 1 o'clock or just the treble? I guess the answer depends on the alcohol %.

Does the cone move freely in and out or is it stuck? Magnet shift is very common and traps the voice coil which freezes the driver. That'd be my first guess. If you are the handy type it's pretty easy to repair.

Superampman, i'd say the bass kept getting louder but it's hard to say as the alcohol percentage was pretty high lol. I guess it could have been clipping but I did't really notice at the time. Gonna keep this in mind and try not going past the 1 o'clock mark next time.

Johnny, the cone is quite stuck in place and won't move at all, I was thinking it could be from magnet shift but from what I read it seemed like that would happen with dropping the speaker. Could this also happen from high output? If this is the case I'd be pretty happy because I like to consider myself a handy person and would save me some money.

if the coil is burned you might be able to smell it .

Check for magnet shift, but that tweeter took some damage. A 50 watt amplifier and Monitor 5jr is not a party system. In the future, if you have more party plans, you will need different gear.

Too bad to hear that the tweeter is damaged as I suspected. Also I smelled the voice coil but it just smells old, not burnt. I will check for magnet shift and see if the woofer is salvageable, if not might be best to buy another set of speakers and keep these around until I can find replacement parts for cheap. Not too mad about it as these are pretty beat up and I was able to score em for 15 bucks but I am gonna miss em for a while as I loved these babies. Might take this as an opportunity to upgrade and maybe even find a more powerful amp hehehe.

If you can find a pair of Bose 901 and a 300+ watt pa amp, you would be sitting pretty.
