Sub $200 Vintage Turntable

I am looking for a sub $200 turntable to match my Large Advent Speakers and Pioneer SX-737. I have heard some models thrown around Thorens TD-160 I have been told would be a good option. I also would like a $100 cart to match the table.

Get a Marantz 6100 and a Nagaoka MP-110.

The Turntable itself works like new, the red speed light works as does the pop up light. I have moved with this turntable numerous times so it is a bit scratched up. No dents or dings though. Pitch knob is broken off but you can still slide the slider. I have a Shure scratch cartridge for it, but needs a new needle. Price is negotiable.

It's 100 bucks...yall think I should get it?

I would probably skip that table. It has most likely been used for DJing which means a tough life. Do a search on AK for info on what to look for on those tables. For that money you can find a nice SL-1300 or similar series table in much better shape. JMHO

I might have agreed with kermit, but recently thedelihaus reminded me that with new parts available, at the right price it's worth it. The only part that really suffers from abuse is the arm, and that's only $65 to replace--if you're willing to do that (and if it's necessary). And if he's open to negotiation on the price, so much the better. And then maybe consider an AT440MLa to go with it or perhaps a Denon DL-110 or 160.

That machine looks very promising. If anything needs replacement, you can get parts very easily for it from Panasonic Parts or any of their distributors. It's very nice performing and very reliable in daily service. I own one (paid $50 for mine). I love it and recommend you get this one. View the 1200 owners club thread and PM the starter of it and join us. With care, it will outlive you.

Its worth the $100. A headshell and cartridge appears to be all that's needed to get you going. Sounds like a decent deal to me.

Depending on where you live and your level of patience, there are dozens of possibilities. I live in the Baltimore/Washington area, and between Craigslist and Ebay (local pickup only), there are at least a couple of very interesting TT offerings available each week. If you're in a large metro area and aren't in a rush, take your time and figure out what you want in terms of audio quality, functionality, aesthetics and then focus in a bit. Hell, when my last turntable crapped out, I just moped around the office like my dog died until a colleague came to the rescue and gave me a Pioneer PL-41 that had been sitting unused in his house for years. Since then, I've gotten a similar offer on a Dual and a Miracord.

A good model from the Sony PS-Xxx series can be had for under $200, and they're great tables. I love my X70.

They don't show often, but when they do they are cheap, and an extremely good table. Watch out for Revolver. As for cartridge, there are many good options for $100.00 or less, checkout Grado (Green/Red/Black), and AT.

+1 on that - local pickup. I've not had good luck with TTs getting shipped from Eprey. I've bought 3 and only 1 made it in as listed condition. Not very good. Craigslist or local pickup from ebay is the way to go. There's always some of the Technics 1200 thru 1800 series on CL here where I live, some a tad pricey but with local pick up it's not a crap shoot.
