Sub advice $500 - SVS SB1000 or refurb Klipsch R-115

I am setting an affordable home theater / audio system in my large finished basement. The choice is above. I want to listen to movies and a variety of music. I can get the Klipsch on a really good deal but keep hearing amazing things about SVS. Thoughts? I’m using Klipsch R600m for the front channel speakers. Thanks for any insights you can give.

Guessing the "really good deal" on the Klipsch is a limited time thing. I believe if you don't like the SVS you can send them back, but then you might loose out on the Klipsch which likely won't have the return options of the SVS. Giving the size of the Klipsch it might be a better choice if you want to shake the floor. Some will tell you to get the Klipsch so it "matches" the sound of your fronts. You might want to post this question on an AV forum. An option to the SVS can be found at https://rslspeakers.com/ if you're still in the shopping mode.

I haven't heard a tight accurate sub from Klipsch yet. The last one I bought was the worst sounding sub I've ever heard, listed it on CL the next day.

It also might depend on what you want most in your sub: accuracy for music or floor shaking for home theater. At your price point you might have to choose.
