Sub PSW650 Polk Audio primary transformer coil burnt. 110v.
If your power grid is 110v (USA) and the sub is not working at all probably your primary(input) coil of the transformer has been burnt. Just use a simple tester to check the resistance on a receptacle of a Sub. The regular resistance should be about 2.2 Om. If you have an open circuit there is a high likelihood that the primary(input) transformer coil has been burnt. (Or it might be a fuser. Open your sub and check it also)
But there is a solution.
Originally the transformer had a primary (input) coil for 230 v. This coil is just divided into 2 parts.
Open the transformer (it is quite laboring), and reach the coil wires for the primary (input) coil. You will see the additional wire which is not connected anywhere. Using the tester, find the wire of the primary coil which is going to have a resistance with a newly found wire of about 2.2 Om. Resoldering the wire which has an open circuit with a coil to a newly found coil end.

Do you know for a fact that 120V versions of this sub use the same transformer?. Typically North American components have a unique transformer for 120V, not a converted 240V (if the latter, they will most likely also have a voltage selector switch).
