Subsonic Filter

You may want to open the cover of your C-03 and verify that the sub switch is still wired to the board. Believe it or not, I had a similar issue with a C-300 that I used to own. The sub filter didn't seem to do anything. So I popped the cover and - wow - the previous owner had removed it from the circuit! Maybe Luxman had a bad run of switches and this was a common "work around" - who knows...

I have had luck moving my ported speakers further away from the turntable. Space, of course, can be an issue.

I have a pair of those FMODS. For one, I don't think they work all that well, and for another, I think they're set up for line level signals at much higher impedances. Others will certainly know more about electronics and electrical engineering than I though.

^ Could it be placed between the pre and power amp then?

I have the table isolated fairly well and I know it's not feedback from the speakers as it really depends on the lp it's self. Some are almost perfect and some are wild.

Anyone have the KAB USA RF-1 filter?

G'day mate, I have heard of others with good results with those KAB subsonic filters if they are the one's you are referring to.

I had a very bad woofer woofing problem on one of my systems with a set of large three way ported speakers, so I built this excellent subsonic filter and placed it after my DIY phono stage with excellent results: http://sound.westhost.com/project99.htm Regards, Felix aka catman.

I hate that woofer woofing! And yes, mine is in the "processor" loop, so same as between the pre and power amp essentially.

I've never seen one, but KAB's specs are a bit frightening. The -3dB loss at 20 Hz is likely to be more than a little audible in an excellent stereo system. And 5V rms isn't a lot of headroom. I would expect at least double that, even in a simple op-amp design. And so on... Maybe it's a better idea to diddle the filter circuit in your preamp. You got a schematic?
