Any suggestions for a substitute for the UA 1458 ctc op amp please. I have seen NTE 778A suggested on one site, not much about likely subs for this one on the web. Something modern and readily available please.

Many thanks.

It looks like it is a dual µA741 - which means that LM4558N would probably be what I would use, NE5532 also seems to be OK - but apparently has a much higher slew rate - and is 3 times more expensive. Gadget73's suggestion of an LM1458 is excellent.

Farnell have LM1458N @ £0.685 and you can just buy one. (RS want to sell you 40!)

I recently bought some LM4558N (=RC4558P) from Farnell - very cheap at £0.227 each - but you have to buy 5, and the minimum order value is £20 - the shipping is free.

Would the slew rate be a problem?
Might be - the original would be around 1 or 2 V/µS and the NE5532 is 9V/µS - might cause instability? - all the other suggestions are very close for slew rate.

I found it very easy to set up an account at Farnell. ;) - but I understand that the minimum order limit of £20 could be an issue if you only want one item.
