Subwoofer noise..

Guy's please help! My subwoofer for my HT is making a popping and static type noise when my receiver is off, my wife noticed early this morning, I run it on auto so it should be off with no input source, please don't say it's that replacement time but I have had it for many years, I think the plate amp is going however any help is great, what say you?

You might try a new cable first, cheaper than a new sub..
Or before that unplug the cable and see if it still does it..
If it does move it to a different outlet..

Unplug it from the source and see if it still makes that sound. Could be the plate amp (if it's powered) or could be something with the receiver (amp).

Decided to buy a new subwoofer going from 10 to 12 inch! Thanks all for responding...
