Subwoofer Placement Help

Hi. I just got the Logitech Z623, and I'd like to know where the best place to place my sub is. I like a loud and boomy bass, because it fits the music that I listen to.

I have a problem, though. It is connected to my speakers, and the wire is quite short, so I can only place it near my desk. Here's a primitive Paint drawing of my room: http://i.imgur.com/neSpjDT.png

I've walked around my room, and the bass is much louder in the other corner, which is probably obvious to the people who knows about this stuff. Where can I place it to get the loudest bass?

That's one of the reasons I hate single subwoofers, I use 3 in my main setup and two in my secondary setup. What you are experiencing is one of the main reasons I hate single sub setups. The bass is almost always better if you put the sub somewhere you either can't or don't to put it, and rarely do they perform the best where you do want to put it.

Maybe you can splice a longer wire to it so that you can position it near where you say the bass is the best. If the bass is a lot stronger in that corner, if you put the sub near there, it'd probably be a lot stronger near your listening position. If you cannot extend the wire that long, maybe you can still get good results if you extended it some so you could try some different positions. If you can't extend the wire you really can't do much about the bass response, so you'll be stuck.

I don't know if you can, but trying a whole new position for the desk and speakers may work well too.

I heard...

I read somewhere if you place your sub in your seating position, take a walk around your room until you find your sweet spot. Place your sub there. Never tried it but wouldn't take much to try.

Good luck :thmbsp:
