Subwoofer quandry; what to choose

I've been searching Fleabay for a subwoofer. I found the Velodyne dps 10 interesting and the Klipsch ksw 12. The Velodyne CT series is interesting as well. I'm looking for one to complement music not theatre. Can anyone help me out and guide me to what they think works? The Velodyne has controls for various sounds like jazz. The Klipsch has some positive reviews and looks great but I'm ambivelent because it doesn't retail for that much money. Please guide me.

I have this Dayton Titanic 10" and think it's unbeatable for the money. It may in fact be unbeatable at twice the price. You can get it assembled or put it together yourself and save $150.

The older Velodyne CT 150's are indeed killer subs! FWIW Dayton does offer some pretty nice plate amps, subs and cabinet to put them in if you consider DIY. I made me a real nice 500 watt 15" sub that sounds better than anything I wanted to buy for at least a third to half as much $$$$!

I am Yamahalic, so you can guess my recommendation

My first "finesse" active sub was a Yamaha YST-SW500 (10" driver, 120w amp):thmbsp:. VERY musical, but not quite muscular enough for modern home theater. Not sure if many of these were made, but probably a good value if ones comes up.
