Suggestions for mini portable Bluetooth speaker

The title says it all. I'm in a vacation rental with no audio stuff at all. My Surface Pro 2's speakers have minimal volume, never mind quality. My Fire tablet plays a little louder but with even less quality.

For my future trips, I want to be able to pack and carry a rechargeable Bluetooth speaker without taking up much space or adding much weight. Can I do better than a mini Jambox?

ya, full size jambox, or any of JBL's latest offerings, I just bought an extreme 2 pro,and It's really astonishing how clean, and how loud that thing plays.

I cant say enough good things about the Megaboom. (not any of the other types from Logitech - just the Megaboom). Great sound for the size. Excellent battery life and waterproof. One is all it takes, but can be paired together for stereo or mono. If you wait and watch sales can be bought cheaply. Don't be tempted to buy a refurbished one though.

Plus 1 on this. I have a UE Megaboom and I take it all over the place when I travel. Its great and if it ever dies I'll get another. Amazing sound for such a small unit, especially bass. Plus, it doesn't monitor your conversations or bathroom rituals like Alexa or HomePod.

Although I don't use it muchi, I've been quite happy with my Bose Soundwave Color. It plays loud for its size with plenty of bass when placed near a wall or corner, and very good sound quality.

I've had problems with the battery maintaining a charge sometimes though, Maybe because I don't use it enough.

It's perfect for entertaining on the back deck and playing in the garage. I've also plugged the analog output on my 32" TV into it for much improved SQ over the TVs tiny speakers and used it with my Laptop. Very versatile bluetooth speaker.

I use a pr. of the UE Mini Boom and run 'em in stereo mode so I can get some ch. seperation.
Sounds great, not too big & bulky (at least for me,,,YMMV),and they have decent battery life IME too.

Honestly these work out a lot like a "on-the-go" near-to-midfield set-up.
Obviously they sound best up close, yet they can easily play loud enough to sound really good in most average sized rooms.

Come in handy during any pesky power outages too...
