Spendy but a job done right and what is your time worth?

You are 100% correct sir.:D

I have finished stuffing one cap, and I can tell you that these big caps are a pain to clean out.

I will never do this again on an SX-1250.

Three to go.

Edit: Well the last three went well. I heated a knife to cut through the old wax, and the guts came out in one piece.
It took about the same amount of time to do the last three as it did the first one.

that it does... :D

heated knife... just a thought/question: boil it in water? Use gloves?

I thought about the boiling water route, but I didn't want to take the chance of ruining the plastic on the can. If I would have melted the plastic, I would have been SOL.

I guess I could have boiled the water, then took it off the flame, then dropped the caps in. Oh well, just though of that.

Gloves would have been a good idea while I was putting hot wax in the cans.
It's only hot for a couple seconds when it gets on you.:D

The next guy I do this for gets the blue caps.

Caps

I had purchaced ADCOM 100V 22000uF Computer Grade Low ESR Capacitors
for my SX-1250. I see the FleeBay seller has these re-stocked.

FleeBay Item# 200844277570

He charged me $140 & $10 shipping. I would contact he to work out a deal.

Just a heads up. Even though these are advertised new the date code is 0145 it's mnfg date = 45th week of 2001 for this brand. Some brands have the date code as the 1st 4 digits. And some you can't see the code or it's not there.
I bought some large 33,000UF from EBAY and the date code was 9644 I had 3 bad ones out of 10. They measured less than 5000UF each, sent em back.
SO .. yes it's better to have those newer caps but keep an eye on those date codes or test them first if you can.
OK I'm open for the comments now. Correct me if I'm wrong.

John M

EDIT: I'm not trying to cause a stir here but posted this as FYI ... just check them...
