SX-1250 Meter Lights

Hello,
I picked up another SX-1250 which appears original. Cleaned the controls. Checked all of the fuses and replaced the 4 dial light bulbs, (two were out). Replaced the "A" speaker grain of wheat bulb due to a broken connection to the bulb. The meters work as they should, but It appears that the meter lights are not working or are very dim. I removed the metal frame and tried to gently nudge them out to look at them but the appear to be attached at the bottom where I cant see. Anyone had these out before and know the secret? Also where are the light bulbs in these? Replaceable?
Thanks

The lamps are glued into the rubber shade/reflector assembly. They can be removed by carefully cutting or breaking away the glue. Lamps are 8V/35 mA T1-3/4 and can be replaced with the JKL DW09, 8V 40mA 0.2" indicator lamp.

Huh?

The 1250 has four 8V 300mA lamps that light the tuner scale and the tuner strength and center tuning. All the rest of the lamps are for indicators (Speaker A, B, C, FM, AM, Aux, Phono 1, Phono 2).

The 8V 300mA wedge lamps are held in plastic 1/2-turn friction-fit devices, and can be removed with astonishing ease.

So this talk about 'meter lamps' is blowing right by me.

Good catch, EW. I had in my head "speaker lamp" from the previous sentence. Meters are illuminated by the general dial lighting as you indicated, or at least they are on my unit.

Ok so that means that the light from the 4 lamps is channeled by the plexiglass piece into the meters? My other SX-1250 is identical and the meters are brightly lit. Not so on the other one. I dont see any difference in the set up. A mystery....

There is a beveled edge at the front of the Lucite light bar. The long edge of the bevel must be facing downward to reflect the light down toward the dial and meters. You can also try cleaning the plastic lens on the tops of the meters in case they have accumulated excessive dust and debris - With water and mild soap only.
