I would love to have an SX-1250, but already have a very nice SX-1050 that is way under utilized in the living room. Everytime I get it loud enough were you can really enjoy the music, the wife complains and it gets turned back down to a notch above audible.

Send the wife to the store!

You won't be ruining a snipe for anyone... the bids go way too high on the goodwill site for any real sniping to take place!

Really? My Voice of Music console was $6. My Toshiba CD player vintage 1986 was $6. My Akai M8 with speakers was $20. Seem like deals to me!

But yes, on the stuff that 'everybody' likes, the prices are what they are. I notice the watch collectors and the camera guys have found the site and they keep prices inline with what they're really worth. Hey, it's good for Goodwill, I got no problem with it. But there's still a lot of stuff flying under the radar. Some of youse guys just don't know good junk when you see it.

Anybody notice most of the real heavy electronics all end up in Tacoma, Washington?

And Oregon. But definitely the NW. And I've also noticed that Denver has the highest shipping to Detroit. Some of the prices are great - the shipping makes it not worth it.

McChord AFB and Ft. Lewis just to the south (now called Joint Base Lewis-McChord), probably lotsa retired military in the area?

Could be, but there's lots of bases everywhere. It just seems like they get lots of high end 'heavy' gear for some reason. That might be it though. You never know, I guess.

Man I was hoping this one wouldn't get out, but Wigwam is right the good stuff does bring big money on Goodwill. But I also have gotten several really good deals; you just have to look around a bit as a lot of their item descriptions are pretty vague.

April 1, 2014: Goodwill overtakes Apple as the most valuable company in the world. "We started out years ago selling people's donated junk as a way to employ the disabled and help the less fortunate" Goodwill CEO John Doe said today. "But we discovered that there's a huge market for certain items, especially old stereos and SLR's. So long as old guys are willing to buy untested gear online for big money, we'll keep on selling", he chuckled, barely concealing his delight. "Ever since this Vinyl Revival thing took off, we've cornered the marked on old turntables and records, too. With the new-found respect for Barbra Streisand, we can sell her records for $25 a pop, and we have a LOT of her records, as well as the Johnny Mathis, which are also selling like hotcakes", Doe said.
