SX 3500 Push Buttons

Hi. This is my first post on AK, and I would consider myself a novice or very low on the scale as far as being a technophile/audiophile, but I do love putting on an actual record and listening at home. Basically what I'm saying is, I do not understand the vast majority of the technical jargon that is associated with the components of a receiver. All that said, I have a Pioneer SX 3500 that I bought for $20. When I bought it the push button for the A speakers was not functioning (didn't stay depressed). Recently, while listening to a record (The Roots - Things Fall Apart) the B button stopped working, too. I thought I could possibly handle the repair. I may not know anything about receiver components, but I am no stranger to tinkering.

I have gone through the forum and found two threads that were of some help in dealing with the situation of broken push buttons on an SX 3500/3600. However, these were way too technical. From what I can gather, the repair is going to be too much for me to handle on my own. I don't think it is worth it to have someone do the repair for me. I'm using the SX 3500 with two Bose 301 speakers and a Stanton T.60 turntable (I know...I was going to be a DJ. Ha!).

Here's the real question: Is there an easy and/or practical way to simply force the buttons to remain depressed at all times?

I hardly use headphones and don't think it will be a big deal to just keep the push buttons pushed.

Thanks. I did see that thread. If all I have to do is remove the face plate and remove the springs, I think I can handle it. I just saw something about soldering and thought about my limited experience in soldering circuit boards in children toys to make weird amplified noises. I was essentially purposely ruining the intended purpose of the internal components, so needless to say, I was a bit intimidated.
 
So you tried your hand at "circuit bending"! My son wanted to experiment with that, but we didn't have much success creating strange sounds.

You shouldn't have to go near a soldering iron for this modification! PM if you have any questions.
 
Will do. Thanks again for the help. I have a professional who is willing to do the repair for free if the timing works out. If not, I'll tackle it myself.

My circuit bending days were pretty fun. This was the result of an interest in experimental rock music coupled with AP Physics nerdery. I got some pretty cool sounds and some interesting "instruments" but ultimately let the the habit go. Too bad you two didn't have any success making cool noises.
