SX-5580 case variations

When I see pictures of various SX-5580's, some of them have a strip of natural wood on the top of the sides, some are all black, and some have one of each.

That must be that the case has been repaired. I'm pretty sure the SX-55x0 cases were all black.

First time I've seen trim other than black on a SX 5580, could it be that the black facing strip has been removed? That be my guess.

It looks to me that the veneer on the top edge of the side panel is missing. The trim pieces on the front of the unit are black anodized aluminum.

That picture shows the complete before and after answer to this issue. The 'veneer' on the top of the sides is a thicker than most vinyl veneers, black plastic strip. One side is missing, one is not. The glue holding these on is having a hard time sticking to both the cabinet and the plastic after all these years.

The Black/Silver® units had all black cabinets when new and as Pioneervato stated above, a nice chunk of metal as the corner pieces vs. the block of wood on the Silver units.
