SX-680 SX-1280 Knobs??

Does anybody know if the small knobs on a SX-680 will fit the Balance knob on a SX-1280?
I think that the SX-1280 style that has the raised inner splines that stick out further than the Aluminum housing.

There is only one small knob on the SX-680, the balance dial. it is the same and should work on the balance dial stud of the 1280 as well.
