SX-737 Dial Pointer Lamp

I have a SX-737 with a burnt out dial pointer bulb. I read many of the threads on replacement. Does the tin cover of the pointer really have to be pryed off? I could swear that I remember just horizontally sliding the bulb out if its black housing on a SX-838 I used to have a few years ago. Did anybody ever do this too? I dont want to do anything yet until I hear from everyone.

Done that in my SX-1010. Had to pry a 2 of the 4 tabs so I can work the plastic part from the metal cover. There was no other way since the hole was too small for the bulb to fit through.
