SX-780 Vinyl Crap

I finely got tired of looking at my SX-780`s peeling vinyl. So I pulled it off. Sanded it a couple times and applied two coats of stain[Cherry]. By no means as sharp as new veneer but a lot better than that peeling crap. :yes: And it only cost about $5.00 and a little time.

That looks good to me,specially considering the time and money that you have into it.
I didnt know that there was decent wood underneath the vinyl.

Stevesmullen, I was also surprised at the wood underneath. The plywood is a little rough. But a little sanding did the trick. I used a wet/damp cloth to wipe down between sanding to bring out more grain. If a little extra time was put in the process I`m sure it would look really good.

Very nice. From the photos, it resembles Mahogany, not a bad look for so little money.

a semigloss verithane finish will really make it pop. 2 coats, sand between or steel wool.

I think it looks good. Get some band-it 3/4 inch iron on edgeing for the edge of the ply-wood. It is very easy to use, and gives a nice finished edge.
I just did mine with red oak wood venner and light oak stain today..
I hate that peeling vinyl, so I am doing my entire collection in real wood.
