SX-838 Dial Pointer Options

I have searched around a LOT and havent been able to find the DIal Pointer assembly for an SX-838.

My assemby works fine, but the illuminated stick broke off some time ago while the unit sat in a basement for 20 some years.

Are there any alternatives or something I could use to glue onto the assembly to use as the pointer? The very top part of the original pointer stick is still there, so there is something to attach it to.

Your advice is greatly apprecaited....

A SX-737,939, or 1010 pointer should work but check the part # in the service manuals 1st.. Look on Ebay, or contact Danny at yesterdays audio. http://www.yesterdaysaudio.com/ He'd probably have a complete pointer. But be warned, as old as they are they are VERY BRITTLE. So be very GENTLE with it.

If you go to a arts and crafts shop (like Michaels or similar) you might fine some clear plastic or lucite solid tubing in square cross section. It's usually used in lighting effects similar to fiber optics. You might be able to gt something that may be able to be glued on. The tuning pointer assy is all one piece. The pointer is not separate. So while you may be able to glue it on, you won't get a lot of light (if any due to the joint and glue).

Seems to me that I replaced one on a 737 that came from a 535 or 636. There's no need to restring but generally the dial pointer and string assy are sold together. There's tabs on the pointer assembly that hold the string in place. If you could find a pointer/string assembly from a 535, 636, or 737 even though part numbers aren't the same it still may be workable. I think I've got a couple pointer assy's around here out of an x2x or x3x. If I find one or both I'll PM you.
