Contacted a guy with a listing thr CL with an sx 850. He is asking 150. Although he says it may need or just a cleaning and is missing a knob. Is this high for an 850 in for sure unknow xodirion? All lights work and case is in supposed good shape. He seems like he is stubborn and I am tired of overpaying.

If it's clean, I think that's a good price. One missing knob wouldn't hold me back, but I'd make sure the shaft of the pot isn't crooked. I wonder why the knob is gone... If its condition looks nice to you, go for it. I love that receiver. I wish I still had mine. It's a step up from your 780, IMO.

Would it be insulting to try to wiggle it down? Assuming the shaft is straight? Who knows maybe someone's three year old pulled off the knob in '82 and flushed it down the shitter. Lol...

I'd probably try for $120. Haha. Be prepared to pay full price though. That receiver is only going up in value. That real wood veneer is nice. Unlike the 780, when you play with it, it feels like a monster. It's very well built and a nice one will last you a lifetime.

I sold mine (SX-880) for $150.
Nothing missing and fully working, lubed, deoxit so at least you can ask $10-$15 for the knob.
