SX-950 power supply recap conflict

The service manual, and at least one recap thread list C12 on the SX-950 power supply board as a 1000uF cap.

My three SX-950's have a 2200uF cap in that spot.

The big schematic lists a 2200uF cap as well.


Are there a couple of different designs out there?

Just follow what's on the board. I usually make a list out of the schematic then I verified it by looking physically on the board and go with what's on the board.

C14 is different too.

In theory, what would happen if I went with the different values?

I had a 4700uf 63V in C12 but mine is a dual voltage European unit. I would just replace what you already have on the board.

I have a mint SX 950 I picked up a few years ago, while I was still working. I'm retired now and considering recapping it, at least to some extent. If I do this in phases, what caps are the best to replace first. I've read the coupling caps are usually in need of replacement, but I don't know how to identify them. I can solder and desolder, check component values, and can follow a schematic. Will one of you experienced folks help on where to start?

All the caps need to go.
What’s much worse? The transistors on the power supply board and protection board.

Some resistors need to be replaced too.
