I am looking for a quick connect solution for the terminal post on each of the boards so I can remove them soldering parts
does anyone know of connectors that could slip over the original posts, or if this is even possible?

I thought maybe it would be a good idea - Please advise

Thank you in advance

thanks for your reply.
i've rebuilt AWG038, AWG039, AWF011 and working on AWM062. it dawned on me that it would be nice to be able to quick-disconnect the boards and work on them and was wondering if anyone had done this. I've had a few wires break on me from bending the board back and forth. I've had the sx950 for over forty years and many techs work on it - thought it would be a nice upgrade. BTW I decided to refurbish the 950 and learn a new hobby.
Thanks

Its more work and possible future connection reliability issues to modify the wire wrap connections.
Loosen the harness as much as you can to get the access you need.
I know what you’re thinking but its been talked about many, many times before. Repair the few wraps you broke with either a wrapping tool or flux the pin and solder the wire. You also can remove the pin and run the wire through the pin hole, then solder using the through hole technique.
You picked a great hobby to try.

Thanks for the advice. I knew it was added work and good to know people have address the issue already. I'll keep it simple and fix it has it happens - only had a couple wires break that needed to be restored anyways. thanks again.

If you have wires breaking, you're moving the board too much.

I've restored 20-30 of the SX-950 and I've maybe had one wire break....everything is very accessible if you are patient and move the wires around, or out of the plastic catches.

In some Pioneer machines, I number the wires and desolder the pins, leaving the wire wraps intact. Making connectors can work, but you may be introducing another possible failure point. I've THOUGHT about installing Molex connectors, but have never done it. The wire they used may be difficult to attach pins to as well, and they will still be brittle. On my SX 950, all I needed to do was rebuild the phono stage. I have a collection of the SX silver face, but the 950 fits the space, leaving room for the turntable next to it. I use it exclusively in my "shop" and it isn't a compromise. I prefer my SX 950 to the SX 980, it sounds better IMO and has slightly better build quality. I also cheat, I have a Pace station and if I can get a shot at the back of the circuit board, I can get the parts out.
