synergestic speakers for C22 pre and MC462 power amp

Hallo!
I am running my JBL4365 with a MC462, sounds great!! Will try too connect one MC275 and see how it sounds. Don't think it will be a problem but, MC462 is better for those speakers. Connected via C48.
About room size, just another topic, but proper room treatment is the key for good sound!

Agreed. Unless you want the “tube sound”, stick with the accuracy of the MC462 (I have both, guess which hasn’t been plugged in since 2022).
Tubes are fine if that’s your flavor, I switched in the ‘70s and have only owned tube gear as a curiosity and collectible item since.
I’m not sure I could tell the difference between the 4365 and 4367. I first listened to / demoed the 4365, absolutely loved them but was looking for a true 2-way. When the 4367 became available I demoed again and bought a pair. Very close to the same speaker sonically IMO and it’d take some pretty amazing ears to tell the difference.

Some one brought up Klipsch. My favorite has always been the Cornwall. weather against a wall or near or in a Corner. The new MK IV is the best Cornwall I have ever heard, Some times the different arrival times of the La Scala and Klispschorn makes it sound as if I am listening to three different speakers in one cabinet. The Cornwall, Forte, and Hersey are much less effected having much closer arrival times.

I have a C22 and an MC462 and have contemplated many times about upgrading my speakers. On my short list are the Sonus Faber Olympica Nova III and the Klipsch Forte IV. I never cared for the sound of Klipsch until I heard the latest version iv which I find to be a very fun and energetic speaker. I listened to the B&W 804 D3, but they were no better than my Sonus Faber Grand Piano Home speakers I have now so I passed them up years ago. The latest B&W 804 D4 are ugly in my opinion so I haven’t bothered to listen to them. However, one other speaker I also like is the Dynaudio contour 60i for the same reasons I like the Klipsch, it will rock and make you move!!!

Have you checked out Ascend Accoustics ELX Towers? They measure extremely well--almost ruler flat, with a huge frequency range, and can handle huge watts. Hand made to order in the US, and they will include the actual measurements for each speaker with your order. They score a 7.0 on spinorama--besting speakers a 4x the price. I have some of their Sierra LX bookshelves and they are incredibly impressive--especially so for their size. They wiped the floor with some B+W floor standers that cost 3.5x more.

I've had my SF Olympica Nova IIIs for 18 months and am thrilled with them. With my McIntosh MC312 and C47, they just sound right to me, and the build quality is impeccable.

1 to 10 watts is all you need for a Cornwall, maybe 20 to 30 for a Forte. A 462 is way to much being able to put out over 600 watts per channel together at one time. Oh I agree the IV series Cornwall, Forte, and Hersey are the best they have ever been. Steve at Audio Classics has some model 19 Mcintosh speakers you might really enjoy. I think they were rated at 250 watts RMS, so 600 watt peaks shouldn't bother them with the multiple tweeters. 89 db 4 feet 1 watt. So thats 117 db easily with both speakers combined. Maybe 110 at your listening position. That more than enough. They reach down to 20 Hz, which Klipsch speakers do not. They fall almost an octave short. rolling off around 38 HZ for the larger models. The Hersey around 48 HZ now that it is ported. And don't pull Klipsch out in the room as you will loose even more bass. The 19's were designed to be used against a wall unless you buy a MQ 101 or MQ 107 room EQ. I guess you could use a MQ 112 if the room is symmetrical. If not then you need to adjust each channel seaparely and thats why I use a MQ 107, for my XRT 28's.
