I have 2 systems. One is an NAD 7240 E Power Envelope, Marantz TT-42P turntable and Totem Rainmaker speakers. My other system is a Pioneer
SX-636 receiver,Technics SL-D2 turntable and bookshelf Polk Speakesr.First,it seems my NAD system on the turntable bottoms out on volume at around half way. It does sound real good though. Because the TT-42 is pre amped I can not run it through the turntable inputs so I go through the tape in.I put the Totems on the older Pioneer system and the volume definitely goes higher, but not set on sound quality yet. Why does the Pioneer put out more at 25 watts per channel than the NAD at 40 watts. The NAD does have soft clipping which I use. The Totems are 4 ohm speakers. I am finding it quite the pain to settle on which way to go.
