Taking apart a 1180DC

I am working on a 1180DC and I am scratching my head as to the best way of removing the boards. I see there are three "extension rods" that connect the knobs to switches on the back, and they have sliders. Are they supposed to go on one direction for removal?

I have restored one 1180C and 2 1152DC (similar). I never take out the Preamp assembly ( PJ00 ). I just take the main amp (P700), Relay and Peak assembly (PN00), and Filter amp assembly (PH00). I had no problem accessing all components on PJ00 without taking it out. That being said, I have seen here people taking out the PJ00 off the chassis.

So you work around the three metal rods, I assume. That's doable, some parts may be a challenge to replace but if that's how you did it, I won't attempt to remove it - those pins seem easy to damage. The main amp seems to be easy to remove just like the 1150.

Those metal rods are easy to take out. Remove the faceplate then remove the plastic retainer by removing two screws for each of the rods in the front and then pull out those rods.
 
So the rods are kept in place from the front and slide out. Cool that's great to know, thanks!
 
Leave it in place. No reason to take out. The rods come out easily from the front.

When in doubt just keep removing things.
