Takstar HI2050 review

After 18 days, I got my Takstar 2050's. I put Gino Vannelli's Storm At Sun Up on the turntable and cued it up. On a side note, this album was used at the stereo shop where I would frequent in the late 70's, to test new speakers and systems when they hit the showroom floor. The thunder clap at the beginning of the first cut was distorted and sounded like it was in a tin can...As the song progressed I started to think, what the heck have I bought? Defective product, damaged during shipment? I looked at my tuner, bass at two o'clock and treble at five o'clock, just where my Infinities like it. Backed both down to the neutral position of twelve o'clock. Oh man, what a difference! These sound great. There is no across the board setting for any sound producing instrument. When I hit the second side, the song, Where Am I Going, I believe, is a real test for any speaker because of what is going on musically, they handled it with ease and a wonderful clarity. I know there is a break in period, these can't do anything but get better. I am very happy with the purchase and the price. Cubdog, thank you! I would recommend these to anyone looking for a good set of phones.

Clubdog...I have played all over the United States. My three favorite courses are Talking Stick out side of Scottsdale, AZ, The TPC course south of Jacksonville, FL and the TPC course north west of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Here in south west Indiana there are lots of nice places to play. 60+ degrees here today. I've got my clubs out in my office and shined them up. My real regret is I don't have the game I use to...I think you and I are in the same general area of the country. Southern Illinois for you? We should play some time. Back to the the Takstars. Switched to a different format, CD's. Big difference again. Had to back down slightly on the bass and increase the treble a tad. This was for female vocals and jazz. Still, just great. I found them to be very comfortable and well made. I'm going to use these a lot. Fritz

Actually I'm in northern Illinois 30 miles SW of Rockford. It's snowing pretty good as I type so it's not quite 60 degrees. I'm always up for a game maybe we can get a foursome together.

Sorry to hear about the snow...I don't know where I got southern Illinois? Just a grand day here. Funny what a couple hundred miles can make. A foursome
sounds good. I live what used to be for me a good driver shot from a golf course. The County Club of Princeton (Welcome to the Public) on the bottom of the sign. LOL! Toughest little 9 hole course I've ever played in my life. Tight fairways and not a level place on the course. We'll cross paths again on the site. I'm currently looking into high efficiency speaker designs, DIY stuff, and a low wattage SET tube amp. I am leaning to a speaker with a single driver, no cross overs. The amp under 10 watts per channel. I've been on the Decware site looking at the articles Steve has written and the hardware they sell. At my age this is all against what was popular in the 60's/70's. High watt out put and huge inefficient speakers. The search goes on. Fritz
